How to find an Integrator in Maryland

By David Weigelt. Updated , 5 min read

You have three real options: EOS Worldwide's own V/I Connector program, a search firm that specializes in Integrators, or a personal introduction from someone who knows operators near you. Which is right depends on how fast you need to move, how much you want to spend, and how much the fit on values matters to you.

First, be sure you need one

Most owners I talk with are leading from two seats. They're the Visionary with the ideas and the relationships, and they're also the one running the weekly meeting, chasing the numbers and settling every dispute. If your priorities keep slipping, your leadership team waits on you for every decision, and you're tired in a way a vacation doesn't fix, you probably need an Integrator.

Option one: the EOS V/I Connector

EOS Worldwide points Visionaries to its V/I Connector program, which lives on its Rocket Fuel University site. It's built for companies that already run on EOS and want an Integrator who knows the system. It's national, so expect to do your own work on local fit.

Option two: a search firm that specializes in Integrators

Firms like VisionSpark and Y Scouts run paid searches for Integrators. VisionSpark says a typical search takes 90 to 120 days. Retained search firms generally charge around a third of the leader's first-year pay. If you need a wide search and you have the budget, this is the most thorough route.

Option three: a personal introduction

The best Integrators I know weren't looking when they were found. Someone who knew both people made the connection. That's what I do in Frederick, Howard and Montgomery counties. I don't charge for it, and I don't run a search. The limit is plain: I only know who I know. If I don't know the right person for you, I'll say so, and one of the other two options may serve you better.

What to have ready, whichever route you take

Write down your core values with real stories behind them. Put the Integrator seat on your accountability chart with the five things it owns. And decide what you'll hand over. Many Integrator hires fail because the Visionary never lets go.

Why Integrator hires fail

In my experience it's rarely skill. The Visionary and Integrator relationship is close and it gets tested often. If the two of you don't share the same values about people, money and keeping your word, the skills won't save it. That's why I listen for values before anything else.

Where to start

If your company is in Frederick, Howard or Montgomery county, start with a free 30-minute conversation. Tell me about the company, the seat and what you won't compromise on. I'll tell you whether I know someone you should meet.

Let's talk

Thirty minutes on the phone, no charge or catch. Tell me where you are and what you're looking for, and I'll tell you whether I can help.
